This months guest mixer on Purple Tea Records show is artist Sin Morera
How and where did your career start?
I was first signed to Warner Music as a songwriter as I am a Pop guy. I write Pop and R&B songs for artists like Jimmy Greco (Jennifer Lopez), Toby Gad (Madonna) and many many more big boys that I adore. I then got into production and the rest is history. I’ve been spinning for over 15 years…and I ain’t stoppin’!
What inspired you to venture towards house music?
I always was a house head, I grew up listening to disco, salsa, freestyle music and Chicago House. Going to Redone and Mars, The Underground and Sound Factory in New York City, was embedded a big stamp on my head from my house crew. A shout out to Frankie knuckles, may he rest in peace, Junior Vasquez, Roger Sanchez, Danny Tenaglia and the rest of the crew like Louie Vega, he’s one of the original homeboys of house!
We’ve noticed you were on tour the last couple of months, how has life on the road affected you?
I have to admit it takes a toll on you, it looks fabulous and it is, but I personally miss home. I’m still on tour and living in Rome at the moment and I love it, but time to head back to hit the studio and make moves from New York. I can’t wait to see my family and friends, I miss them but I gotta keep truckin’! I’ll be back in Europe in feb/march again.
What are the next steps to your career?
Honestly I don’t know today, I wake up every morning I go to the gym, and I sit home and work. I become bionic, almost like a robot am relentless across the board, but am enjoying my time in Europe now and the holidays are coming so am unwinding a little. We are getting ready to release the EP including a major collaboration with A.S.R who’s a very talented young man. The release will come out in January on the Grammy Award winning legend, Roger Sanchez’ Undr The Radr.
What is the best venue you’ve played in the recent years?
I have to be honest, I love XXL Club Pulse in London and of course The Life ball in Vienna along side Redbull!!
How was your first conference at ADE?
I have been attending ADE for 2 years now, its the best thing I have done in my career since Warner Music days! I’m actually now part of the ADE team and working on major plans for 2018 which I can’t disclose just yet!
The feedback on the Piano EP was fantastic. Can we expect more from you in the future?
Am working on a lot of stuff and trying not to bite off more then I can chew. The Phonetic Recordings is amazing, they really take the time to listen and return phone calls and simply work with you, the artist. They don’t just put projects out to put projects out. I respect Rob Roar and we are doing the follow up of the Piano EP upon my return. When am sitting in my own studio and I can get creative and explore with some sounds. We also received major support from a lot of the big guys like Mark Knight, and more!
How was it like playing for The House Of Frankie?
I love, love those guys, a super big hug to “The House of Frankie”. Frankie was a mentor then became family so what these guys are doing is incredible and its not easy. We are living in a time that there is no money in dance music, so I want everyone to go support these guys. They have my full support and I’m proud and humbled they asked me to come and spin for them, my set was a tribute to Frankie and how I heard him and remember him as a person. PS. For those who made negative comments, I don’t listen to noise I don’t even watch T.V!
If you were to play anything other than house what would it be?
Honestly 80’s Music and Old School Salsa like Fanta All Stars & some Hector Lavoe!
What was your relationship like with the House legend Frankie Knuckles?
I’ll make it short ‘cause speaking about Frankie still moves me and he was like a father to me. I miss him and am doing exactly what he asked of me! I’m being true to myself and am doing it my way!
